Dr. James Green, Former LRC Director, Contributes Historical Background for President Obama's Speech to the AFL-CIO

President Obama delivered a moving and inspirational address to the AFL-CIO National Convention on September 15th, 2009. The President's Speech concluded with a citation of labor history as it played out in a small Penssylvania town, not far from the convention, named Alquippa.

The story was a compelling example of labor's prominent and enduring role in US history. When Whitehouse Speechwriters required academic insight, they contact Dr. James Green, former LRC Director. Dr. Green provided detailed and compelling background. Dr. Green continues to be a convincing and formidable advocate for labor issues in our country. The LRC would like to congratulate Dr. Green on this prestigous recognition of his accomplishments, and thank him for his ongoing contributions to labor.
