Susan
Moir, ScD, Director of the Labor Resource Center, has been active
in the union movement for 30 years. In September 2004, she came
to UMB from UMass Lowell where she co-founded and was the first
Director of the Construction Occupational Health Program (COHP).
Her fields of expertise are worker health and safety, popular
education and participatory action research. Her most recent article,
“Ideological influences on participatory research in occupational
health and safety: A review of the literature," was published
in 2005 in New Solutions: A Journal of Environmental &
Occupational Health Policy.
Susan
is a Boston native who spent many years as a Boston school bus
driver and union steward before going to UML. She lives in Jamaica
Plain with her partner and their two children. She received her
BA from UMass Boston and is pleased to have returned to the campus
and again be part of the UMB community.
