Ours
is a diverse faculty of scholars. CPCS faculty reflect
the diversity of perspectives necessary for the understanding
of public and community services in an urban environment:
we have faculty with degrees in psychology and social
work; we have sociologists, philosophers, historians and
economists; lawyers, architects, planners, documentary
filmmakers, and experts on the education of adults. We
even have an astrophysicist! Our faculty's research interests
are diverse and, at the same time, united in that they
focus on important issues of urban public policy, public
and community service, and advocacy for disenfranchised
groups. The diversity of these perspectives provides a
rich and varied environment for learning.
Ours is a faculty of practitioners. CPCS faculty bring to
the classroom a broad experience in professions and activism
relevant to public policy and public and community service.
Our faculty brings hands on experience in direct human services,
in public and non-profit management, in organizing and community
activism, in advocacy and legal work. Our links with community
agencies as well
add important dimensions to the wealth of experience available
to students in our classrooms and in independent projects.
