Sylvia
Mignon is Associate Professor and Director of the Master of Science
in Human Services Program. She has over 30 years of experience in
the human services field in settings such as hospitals, substance
abuse treatment programs, and correctional facilities. Dr. Mignon's
publications and research interests include elderly alcoholism,
substance-abusing female defendants, family violence, and the death
penalty. She is the Co-Chair of the Massachusetts Chapter of the
National Association of Social Workers Committee Against the Death
Penalty. Dr. Mignon's co-authored text, Family Abuse: Consequences,
Theories and Responses, was published in 2002 by Allyn and
Bacon. She is currently completing Substance Use and Abuse:
Exploring Alcohol and Drug Problems to be published by Lynne
Rienner Publishers in 2006.
