Financial Aid There are many types of financial aid available to students at UMass Boston, regardless of age. The financial aid opportunities listed here are specific to the Labor Resource Center and/or to CPCS. For more information about other types of financial aid, please contact UMass Boston's Office for Merit-Based Scholarships and/or the Student Financial Management office. Attention Students: The Labor Resource Center sends out regular emails concerning financial aid opportunities and deadlines. If you want to recieve these emails, please send a note and your email address to: laborresourcecenter @umb.edu.
Tuition waivers, which reduce the cost of courses, are available to union members enrolled in CPCS. Requests for tuition waiver(s) must be submitted each semester. For information about tuition waives contact Wally Soper (617-287-7267). The Labor Resource Center Academic Awards The Labor Resource Center administers the Aldo P. Binda Memorial Award for entering Labor Studies student ($500), as well as other academic awards. These awards are given out anually. Please contact Wally Soper (617-287-7467) to apply for an LRC Academic Award. GBLC/Joe Joyce Scholarship The Greater Boston Labor Council/Joe Joyce Scholarship of $1000 is available to students who are members of unions affiliated with the Greater Boston Labor Council. Applicants must submit a one page memo explaining how they plan on using their UMass experience to help the labor movement. The scholarship is awarded once a year during the spring semester and is renewable for a second semester. It is administered by Rich Rogers, the Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the GBLC. Joyce Labor Union Scholarship has a rolling application system. Applicants must:

John Joseph Moakley Charitable Foundation The John Joseph Moakley Charitable Foundation awards scholarships of up to $5,000 to students applying for vocational, undergraduate or graduate education. Selections are made on a competitive basis each spring. The Foundation is managed by the law firm of Shaevel & Krems. AmeriCorps Education Award The AmeriCorps Education Award of $1,000 is awarded to students who complete 300 hours of community service. Contact Suzanne Allmendinger (617-287-7124) for more information. West End Scholarship The West End Scholarship of upto $2,500 is awarded to a full-time CPCS student(s).
