Mentoring
Many
CPCS students have career related questions about the public and
community sector . As a CPCS graduate working in the field----YOU
may be the person with the answers for our inquiring students.
It might be a student seeking advice on which course or field
work is more pertinent to their chosen career---it could be a
student who is job hunting and seeking additional information
about a specific agency or organization----or it could be an almost
grad wanting to shadow a professional for a day to gain a better
understanding of what a particular position really entails and
learn about opportunities available in that field.
You
could be the person with the answers. Your involvement could be
a simple as a few minute phone conversation---- answering a question
or two for a student, or it could be as involved as spending several
hours having a student shadow you on the job. The level of involvement
is up to you.
Please
help us compile a directory of CPCS grads working in a wide variety
of positions and willing to spend some time with CPCS students
---sharing their expertise to guide that student in career making
decisions. If you are interested, please email me at suzanne.allmendinger@umb.edu
and tell me the ways you are interested in participating in our
mentoring program , give me your job title and the organization
you work for and tell me the best way to get in touch with you:
day/evening phone, e-mail.
