Academic
Support: Faculty Advisors

Advising is an important part of the learning process at CPCS.
It will be important for you to have an advisor who can help you
develop your learning plan, monitor your academic progress, provide
counsel when you need it and support you in making your time at
CPCS as good as it can be. You are advised to meet with your advisor
prior to registering.
For
your first semester, your Critical Learning Seminar instructor
will also serve as your advisor. At the end of your first semester,
after you've had a chance to get know other faculty and make some
decisions about the directions you want to move in, you will select
a new advisor or have one assigned to you (you also have the option
of keeping your Critical Learning Seminar advisor). One helpful
way to select a new advisor is to look at the faculty
directory, where they are listed by specialty. You
will be able to look at their biographies and select a faculty
member whose experience reflects your interests. Once you have
selected an advisor, you will need to fill out a "Change
of Advisor Request Form" in the Student Services Office to
make it official. Completed forms should be returned to Student Services Staff. Please note that the form needs to be signed by your
former advisor, and the new advisor that you have chosen.
If you do not have an advisor and would like to request one, or
if you are unsure about who to choose, or if you would like to
make a switch, please contact The Office of Student Services. (617-287-7120)
