Register for and add / drop CPCS Competencies and classes

Once your learning plan is updated on the system, you are ready to register. (If not, please see "Create and Maintain Your Electronic Learning Plan")

Before you register, go through the Instructional Activities book and select the competencies and courses you wish to register for. Mark the pages of the book that contain the classes and competencies you're selecting. The Course and Competency numbers in the book will help you confirm that you are registering for what you want.

REGISTERING FOR INDEPENDENT/PRIOR LEARNING EVALUATION:

When you want to do a competency through independent or prior learning, you still need to register for it. It is advised that you find an evaluator to work with prior to registering on-line. You can use the CPCS Yellow Pages to find an evaluator and their contact information.

You need to access your Electronic Learning Plan to register for and add / drop competencies and classes. Log on by going to:

https://www-cpcs.umassadmin.net/pls/cpcs/logon.student1_logon

Simply click on the link next to competency you want to re-register for and then follow the same steps outlined above to register for it.
  • Proceed through your learning plan using the same steps to register for all the competencies you want for next semester.
  • You can check your schedule the day after you register by accessing your Student Schedule on the UMB WISE page.

Registration Reminders:

Courses with more than one competency: If you are doing more than one competency in an instructional activity you MUST register for each competency. Selecting the course will not automatically register you for every competency in it.

Registering for Independent/Prior Learning Evaluation: When you want to do a competency through independent or prior learning, you still need to register for it. Your first step is to find an evaluator to work with. You should have the faculty member's permission to work with her/him prior to registering. Simply registering to do independent/prior learning with a faculty member DOES NOT mean that the faculty member has agreed to do the evaluation.

Progress Reports/No Actions:

  • If you receive a Progress Report for a competency, you have two semester to complete the work on the competency without having to register for it again.
  • If you receive a NO ACTION for a competency that you are registered for, you are required to re-register for the competency when you wish to attempt it again.
