El Salvador

Well, as many people like to point out to me-I still have no concrete plans for when I am done with my VISTA position. I've been "keeping my options open", but the time is rapidly approaching. Today, I spoke with one of the women that takes Spanish courses here at La Casa. Her son works for Habitat for Humanity down in El Salvador, and she invited me to go on a trip with their church. I think I'm going to look into staying down there for awhile-I'm also looking at an interesting program in Oaxaca, Mexico that involves working with NGO's. Another option I'm considering is a program called World Teach that operates in a variety of countries, and I just met a guy named Gustavo from Colombia that might have some connections for me. Anyway, I'm always looking for opportunities to travel and improve my Spanish.

The weather has gotten pretty nice here, and I'm really excited for the long weekend!! I might go camping, and we're going to BBQ & make homeade ice cream on the 4th. One thing is for sure, though-I haven't been this white in a long time. The nice weather is just a reminder that I haven't even been swimming outside this year-that would probably be for the first summer ever in my life-I might have to remedy that this weekend.
