Bringing community technology resources together in San Diego

Thurs-Sept 7, 04. SDCTC/OTS-points of discussions: In generating excitement and building new partnerships at the coalition, we are targeting the City of San Diego-Public Library and the San Diego unified school school system for new partnerships. I am also meeting with staff at the Cyber Y, a YMCA technology program, next week. We are also doing some repair work on the some of the computers at the different OTS learning opportunity centers, which is a challenge since San Diego county is so spread out and the price of gas just shot up 12 cents, but at least its better than Los Angeles.

Fri-Sept 8, 04. SDCTC/OTS-Briefing with Kimberly Paul and meeting with staff at the Pangea foundation, www.pangeafoundation.org The digital network resource being developed by Kristin Berry, Executive Director and others, will be the ultimate online resource for all technology organizations here in San Diego since it would link all the resources at one site and will provide an access point so that the different organizations are aware of one another. I also met with staff from Bayview Bapist Church and Bruce Jackson, their director of program development, which is now focused on the use of technology programs. Bayview Bapist Church, for example created a music and technology (alternative) partnership with help from the music museum in Carlsbad, CA. www.bayviewcharities.org

In other news, myslef and Steve Fink, from Infotap worked from 4p.m. to 11p.m. on Friday (That's some dedication Right) in setting up the network at Hacienda. We have 4 more computers to go and some bugs to workout in the system.
